Gloucester County defined
JACOB FISLER bought 3000 acres in 1780 I think near Clayton Village cemetery and was the founder of the Clayton area as it is today. Township of Elk -Settled by 1791.

part of Woolwich and Greenwich Townships, was incorporated into a new
municipality - the Township of Franklin. At that time Glassboro, Clayton,

On Sept. 16, 1830, in the Village Herald of Woodbury, Abraham Nelson published a notice directed to Justices of the Peace, etc., not to marry his daughter, Hannah, to Bodo Morgan. (Bodo was a son of Jonathan Morgan, and a grandson of George Morgan, says John D. F. Morgan, Esq.) Hannah (7), nevertheless, married Bodo Morgan, probably in 1830, and died by 1842. Hannah (Nelson) Morgan, and Bodo, had but one child:

i. Abraham N. Morgan (8), born August 14, 1831.

Bodo Morgan having wed (2), in 1842, Rhoda MaGague, they conveyed to Abram N. Morgan, of Franklin Township, on February 23, 1845, 30.50 acres in Franklin Township on the road from Whig Lane to Hardingville, adjoining Bodo's other land and the Ecret survey (GD R4:101). Bodo left a will probated April 1, 1869. Executor Abram N. Morgan, who qualified (GS F:366).

Abraham N. Morgan (8), married Margaret Butler, and had three children: Wesley, Hannah, and Anna Corinda (Carr). Abraham N. died March 2, 1915, and Oscar E. Carr, grandson, was appointed administrator on April 5, 1915 (GS E:123).

On December 5, 1857, the above heirs of Abraham Nelson sold to Joseph Paulin and Wm. L. Cross, all their rights within a survey on Reed's Branch made to Sears (Sears Cedar Swamp) (GD U4:137).

Child of B
ODO MORGAN and HANNAH NELSON is:

Peter Jessup Morgan belongs to the George Morgan descendants, at least thru a Morgan daughter who married a George Morgan descendant. Where?

Peter's descendant says,

Hello, my name is Rosanne Empey. I am researching the line of Peter Jessup
Morgan, born 1802 in Glouchester, New Jersey.
I found your information on the George Morgan line on the Ancestry board.
Very interesting! I would like to figure out how my Peter Jessup Morgan
figures in, perhaps a cousin.
Anyway, I think I can help you correct some information. On your page of
genealogy you list a Peter Morgan, (son of Jonathan and Margaret Otto
Morgan)" born 1817 in N.J., and died June 15, 1908 in Glassboro, Glou. Co., N.J..
He married (1) HANNAH H. CHEESEMAN March 12, 1835 in Glouc. Co.. N.J.. She
was born Unknown, and died Unknown. He married (2) SARAH JANE MOORE November
13, 1841 in Glouc. Co.. N.J.. She was born Unknown, and died January 19,
1885 in Woodbury, Glouc. Co., N. J.. "
My ancester Peter J. Morgan, (I have no names for his parents at present)
married Hannah Jane Cheeseman March 12 1835 in Glouc. Co. N.J. I have the
information on this Peter, and Hannah, and their family. Could it be
possible, then , that your Peter only married Sarah Jane Moore, and had the
family as you record?
I have attached a gedcom of my Peter, Hannah, and their family. They moved
west in 1836, to Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and Oregon.
I hope this helps you, and would be glad to hear from you further on this
line.

I believepeter Jessup Morgan and Hannah Jane Cheeseman left after about 1837 in the Morgan wagon train which joined up with the main wagon train leaving from Long Island on its way to Independence, Missouri. The Morgan wagons accompanied a Federal Wagon train which went from Philadelphia Arsenal to Pittsburg and thence to Missouri. Indepence was to be the starting point for others coming from other parts of the country for the first wagon train to leave for Oregon Country organized by Andrew Jackson from his home in Tennessee. He hired one of the finest trackers and and other mountain men to lead the train out of Independence, the first an most dangerous of all trains to go west. It was continually being attacked by spies from both Great Britain and Russia who had claims to the Oregon Country. The Philadlephia/Gloucester Co NJ Morgans and related families were on this little known wagon train. Some stopped in Ohio. Others went to Nebraska.
