3. RANDAL2 MORGAN (GEORGE1) was born September 09, 1734 in Egg Harbor Rd., Glou. Co., N.J., and died October 03, 1780 in Glou. Co., N.J. Presbytrian Cem., Blackwood, N. J. age 46. He married AMY CHEW December 13, 1757 in Philadephia, Pa.. She was born 1724 , and died July 31, 1789 in Glou. Co., N.J..

Quite a few members of this family left for the west on the wagon train which left during the year called the Panic of 1837. The rendevouz point for Philadelphians and Gloucester Morgan-related families was west of Harrisburg in the spring.. A wagon from the Army Medical depot at Philadelphia went to Harrisburg to join the train.. .The first starting point had been Long Island but the Rendevous point for people coming from the South was Independence, Missouri. On the way to Independence, the train went thru Wheeling, West VA and Cincinnati, Ohio, following the Ohio River after that. The promise if you joined the wagon train was 200 acres of land in Oregon, papers to be signed at Independence the offer was enlarged to 600 acres because the government felt with the original offer of 200 acres, speculators had been weeded out by not offering 600 publicly. Some of the wagon families had gotten off and bought land which suited them along the way though and never found out about the 600 acre offer. They were Quakers as far as I know. There was a group of Quakers from NJ who went 20 years earlier to Indiana. I think they settled in Wayne County and Morgan Co for instance.
Children of RANDAL MORGAN and AMY CHEW are

: The names Susannah, Michael and David appear in the children of John M. Morgan whose grandmother is Abigail Morgan 1776 (1850 census).
